Although I am not thinking of anyone in particular, I'm thinking of all of us. I will always be known as "that person who had a detached retina" (insert illness). And that is okay, especially if I am able to talk to and to help someone who also travels to that place. My passport has been stamped. I understand the baggage, how to maneuver through Customs, etc. Life is a journey, indeed, and that includes the occasional trip in the scary places, those spots where they speak a different language.
